David, The 1994 edition of The Mettlach Book indicates that the % sign means the item passed inspection and a "P" mark was used for "Probe," meaning trial or test-piece. I recall that Robert Wilson had an article in a recent Prosit in which he discussed the meaning of the % sign. However, I don't recall the issue and a quick scan of my issues did not turn up the article. Ron
