Jody, I am working on an article about large steins. I have a 4.5 L Mettlach. It weighs about ten pounds unfilled. Fill it and you are at 20 pounds. I think it is safe to say that they were made for the pleasure of the eye rather than the pleasure of the stomach. By the way, there is a 32 L stein available too if you subscribe to the "bigger is better" theory. Ron
