What you refer to as the design number (14) I think is what most collectors would call "the mystery number", because although it is believed to be part of the production controls, its exact purpose is unknown. A blank (undecorated) 1526 body with no lid has very little going for it other than the marks on the base. I paid $25 for an undecorated gray one-liter 1526 mug, but that was for a "project" I had in mind.
