Steve, Since there is a hole in the handle, indicating it was designed to have a lid, you have a lidless stein. The wording at the bottom is "In Rememberance of German weapons 1914," but I doubt is that old. Cobalt was diverted to the war effort during WWI. As a result, stein makers had to use another material to coat their pottery steins. The color of choice was unusally green. I don't know who made your stein, but it was probably made between the two world wars and was intended for the German market since the country of origin was not noted on the bottom of the stein. Ron
