There is a stein on eBay (6219373826) which is being sold by an SCI member. He states that the stein is modern and produced after the war. The stein is a typical WW2 PUG stoneware. He told me that there is a Wick Werke mark (W inside of a W) on the base of the stein which would date it to 1960. I was under the impression that it is illegal to produce or display items in Germany with the Nazi Swastika. In fact, when I lived there in the early 70's, the antique shops had to cover over the symbol on any items they had for sale. No German manufacturer in their right mind would produce an item with that symbol back then. My question for all of you "in the know" is; can you shed some light on the stein and it's production? The current owner of the stein is a collector of WW2 military steins and couldn't understand how it came to be either. The stein does not look like it was altered. Maybe we have the dating time periods for the Wick Werke mark wrong.
