Liz, The RW refers to R. Wagner of Mettlach, Germany. I believe this was just a pewter finishing shop. They sometimes made lids for Villeroy & Bochs Mettlach factory. I have one old Mettlach stein with an R. Wagner lid. The mark is a stein with "R. Wagner" appearing vertical in the stein etched in the pewter. I have seen some of the glass steins on eBay where the "R. Mettlach" name is in the glass. I would guess he had the glass made elsewhere for him to apply lids for resale. The Villeroy and Boch Mettlach factory did not make glass steins. Ron
