Geof, While manufacturer's marks are usually found on the bottom of the stein, sometimes the name appears under the capacity mark. I suspect "KS" may be a local pottery. The Oktoberfest steins have the manufacturer's name under the capacity mark. While Rastal has the license to sell the steins, they did not make all of them. Sometimes they subcontracted the production, particularly in the early years when production was under their minimum requirements for a production run. The 1978, 1979, 1980, 1981 and 1983 steins I have show a incised diamond shape with the initials "FS" inside that mark. This was made by Franz Stuber of Munich. I have not been able to obtain anymore information on Franz Stuber. If anyone has more information, I would be interested in hearing from you. The Rastal name does appear on the bottom of those steins. In subsequent years the Rastal name can also be found under the capacity mark. Can you send a photo of your mark to the Web Master so it can be posted on SteinTalk? Ron
