Pewter lids are not "set in stone", the important factor in this case is that the lid either be relief or engraved with the brewery logo and name to match the design on the body. If, on the other hand, the lid is plain or worse, has a design which is unrelated to the body design, then not only does the stein lose much of it desirability, you should question whether it is the original lid or not.
