Hofbräuhaus is THE largest and best known beer center in Munich. Their logo is a conjoined HB. I used the term concept because there are several different but very similar designs for their brewery steins, most common being a crown above the logo. The design can be either incised or painted, and there were a number of variations on the same theme. I'm sure if you search ebay for HB stein you will find a ton of them. Because they were so common, they were also included in many postcards, posters, and other art - in this case, as part of the design for your stein. Some of these steins had numbers on the front. The steins were kept in the Hofbräuhaus and this was a way to identify one person's stein from another.
