But honestly Officer...

For about two years I used to visit an antique shop in Evergreen, Colorado which had some notable pieces. Unfortunately for me, the shop keeper was well aware of the value of her pieces and asked fair prices (which were well beyond my budget). Still, I would visit the shop and handle one piece in particular and marvel at the condition and beauty of this stein.

One weekend I went in and noticed the stein was sold. I thought I would be so bold as to find out if the shop keeper got the price she wanted. She and her husband, who both recognized me from my frequent visits to look at that particular piece, eyed me suspiciously as I approached to ask my question.

“Yeah, it’s gone… As if you didn’t know.” (Says the husband to me.) Turns out, the shop had been burglarized two nights earlier. ONE single item was stolen. Ya wanna guess what it was? Ya wanna bet they KNEW who stole it?

I haven’t been back again – couldn’t stand the cold glare!

Cheers,

Caoimhín P. Connell

AMDG
