"Eisenbahn" means railway. There were three Eisenbahn regiments and two Eisenbahn battalions, one of which was Bavarian. These units were responsible for the railroad systems. Regimental steins were purchased as a souvenir of their service at the time servicemen went to Reserve status. They had their name, unit name, and years of service prominently displayed on the piece, and in many cases also had a roster of names of the men they served with. As I recall, the dates on your stein are 1908 or something very close to that. Since these steins were purchased and decorated shortly before the men left active service, the second date will be the date of manufacture. The body style can be independently dated to within a few years of that same date. Value is highly subject to condition, and I note that at a minimum there appears to be some damage to the pewter. Eisenbahn regimental steins are very popular (in part because they do display a choo-choo train), but I am not able to estimate a value for your stein. If you want to get the ball rolling on selling it, you can place a listing in the Selling/Seeking area of this site, no charge.
