Hi John, here are the facts: If the stein was sent via surface mail ("Päckchen"), then there is no insurance at all. Check the label on your package. If it reads "Päckchen" somewhere, and you paid for insurance, then the seller cheated you. If the stein was sent as a "Paket", then the label should be larger. Check if "Postpaket mit Luftpost" is checked. If so, then the stein is insured up to EUR 500. If not, it is insured with about EUR 100 (depends on the weight). Anyway, the SELLER has to go to his post-office and claim the damage there. The only thing he needs is a form filled by your post-office where it is written in black and white that the stein arrived broken. Then he has to fill out a form, and - attention! - in case the German Post refunds the (or some) money, it will be him who receives it! Usually they do refund for damages; it only might take some time. This is how it has to be done, 100%. If the seller tells you something else, he's lying. Best from Germany Marc
