Chris, According to the Rosskopf & Gerz book by Beate Dry, E&E started out as a wholesaler (I presume of stoneware products since they were located in Hoehr, Germany). In 1907, E&E began marketing the RuG products. E&E acquired their own kiln in 1914 and bought some of the RuG molds about 1918. A. J. Gerz died in 1913 and his widow took over but the firm had difficulties in WWI and went bankrupt in 1917. It is unlikely RuG made any products after the war. The book states that E&E bought the remaining molds in 1922 or 1923. RuG ceased to exist legally on 09/12/30. On of the molds attributed to RuG in the book is an exact copy of one with a Girmscheid mark. Either the stein in misidentified in the book, not all the molds went to E&E or E&E sold some of the molds to other firms. Most of the E&E steins I have seen are the ones that appear in the RuG catalog. I don't know if E&E designed any of their own steins. E&E closed circa 1971 according to The Beer Stein Book by Kirsner. Ron
