A handsome 6" mug I bought last week (no lid, maybe it was removed after breakage) shows very clean images of three musicians and four dancers on the body. The dances shown are clearly Landler and Schuhplattler, no doubt of that as I've taught and performed them my entire life. Base markings indicate it is a Thewald (a "T" with a dot over it, all within an "A" frame) indicating 1897-1918 manufacture. Some of my other steins show wonderful images by Franz von Defregger (Ball auf der Alm, usw) and they have led me to an appreciation of his total artwork. I'd like to pursue the artwork of the artist of this mug's images. I found Defregger by searches based on his initials, FvD. This artist's initials are a K within the outline of the front of a larger B. I asked a stein seller at the Maryland Arms Collectors Show this weekend what he knew of the mark and he guessed at Kark Beuler. A review of the SCI Archives a few minutes ago confirmed that name but I still have no links to Beuler's work, as clearly as I do to Defregger's works. Does anyone have info on Beuler's work?
