Actually "day rates" and "specific events" paid give a better indication of attendance. A better answer would be that convention hosts need more $$$ to hold an event as a mimimum must be met to hold such events and make a profit. A logical may be to downsize and channel the event not as a vacation, but as a convention, as it totally eliminates those of us who work and have limited time for such activities, or when conventions get to the point of such size or costs, the Convention delegation seeks sufficient marketing funds by those wishing to "market, exhibit, and/or sponsor" to such collecting groups, thereby often reducing the costs of a convention to a simple registration fee for members, and an "open day" for non-members to yield the highest return to the convention site, exhibitors, and possible new member interest... Marketing such events takes a lot of marketing knowledge. Maybe including a local micro-brewery, major brewer, stein producer as a major Sponsor, to helps drive those costs down. The real key is to lure as many people as possible through varied events, and wider demographics... As an example, Bud stein collecting is really big, yet I see nothing presented to this large group to draw these collectors, or potential collectors. the same with limited edition steins. The same may be said for the new character steins as sold by David Harr. It would make a lot of sense to have the makers back this event as a sponsor/exhibitor. Anyway just some thoughts.... and thanks for your comments. On another matter do you think anyone will answer my ?? about the Mettlach card stein without a lid?
