Also keep in mind that because Defregger was so popular, his artwork was emulated and marketed by other artists and companies. And, because, his work superbly reflected a wonderfully bucolic view of daily life, you’ll find copies of his work, or look-alikes, on numerous other items. Sometimes, it’s difficult to tell the difference. I am fortunate enough to own a book entitled, “Defregger, Künstler Monographien, von A. Rosenberg” which was printed in 1911. Even though I don’t read German text very well (I do have help) the prints of his work make it worth hunting for this book at antique book collector sites.
