I don't have a means right now to show a photo but...I bought a 6" high boot (stiefel) stein because I liked it. On getting it home I discovered the R Merkelbach mid 1800's mark on the bottom and immediately suspected that it was a fake , being way too new looking and also having 'Made In Germany' on the bottom, in English, plus the numbers '4066 (over) 2'. I have read of faked steins coming out of China/Japan .Any comments gratefully received ??
