I've collected quite a few HB steins. I have what I think is a very early hand ground HB symbol on the front, 1L..front, # in the 4300's- flat lid, to a impressed HB with a flat lid like in the Beer Stein Book pg. 327 item (d) # in the 12,000's, to a typical 1/2L HB front like in the Beer Stein book item (b) on 327, but with a typical dome Kgl.lid in the 9800's, and the same in the 7,700's. Then I have a 1L side) HB like (e) on page 327 with a # in the 28,000's. The problem I have is some of the lids with "engraving" of the numbers don't seem to make chronological sense. For example, the # in the 12,000's with it's style seems to be much older than the 1/2L steins in the 7,700's to 9,800's. Does anyone have a dating list on these HB steins by engraved #'s? Did the #'s run for individual types of steins, or all as one master list? Please advise... thanks...
