Walt: I believe the "ribbon"of pewter you are speaking of is missing, there appears to be a remnant still attached to the band at the botton of the handle & shiney break marks near the top of the handle on either side of the hinge. Also, Yes, there is definitely a "pad" of glass between the handle bottom and the body of the Tank. Does a piece in this condition have any value? Where would on research info such as this?
