I recently acquired four 1/2 liter Mettlach #1028 steins/mugs. I was researching on the internet and learned that Mettlach originally made steins to be ordered with or without lids and was wondering about these pieces. All four do not have lids and there isn't a hole in the handle on any of them to indicate that there was once lids on them. Because of the lack of a hole in the top of the handles am I safe to assume that these four steins were originally made without lids? Thanks for your help.
