The book value (The Mettlach Book (1994 edition) places a value of $475. The Beer Stein Library monitors sales, and tries to maintain a current market value. Perhaps there were some anomolous sales recently, or perhaps there is an error, or perhaps the market value of this particular piece has fallen noticeably, I don't know which it might be.
