Substitute "Women's Prize" for "Lady Price" and the purpose of the inscription becomes clearer. If the "U" is actually "u" (lower case) I would interpret as an abbreviation for "und", and accept the entire inscription as being the "Ladies Prize (awarded to) F. NEUDOLT STROKMAN and crew 26 June 1881." Since the inscription was scratched freehand, I would assume it was done impromptu, to create an award for a rowing event.
