Hi John, I don't think its modern, its pewter, the internal of it is aged so I assume you can't create this. It is so ornate that there may be a makers mark somewhere amongst the detail. The finial is a young boy - cherub like wearing a roman hat holding a shield and where you open the lid that appears to be some mythological animal, I know its hard without a photo, is there somewhere I could email one?
