This is a bit of a curiosity, as the label stuck to the base of the music box clearly says "Gerz", while the impressed mark in the base of the stein is Marzi & Remy. This means that either the entire music box - sticker and all - was removed from a Gerz stein and placed into this Marzi & Remy body, or the sticker was moved from one stein to another. The latter seems much more likely as the possibility of having two steins with music box bases and switching movements from one to the other seem remote. As to your second question, I assume you mean what appears to be a gold coloration in the frieze band near the upper rim. Gold has to be applied last, because it cannot withstand the temperatures of glazing. It is susceptible to wear from handling, and is not a good candidate for dishwashers.
