From my somewhat limited experience, the glass steins have significantly less value to collectors, especially those with plain bodies. Many of these are made by Saxon Glass and have the S and G in a crown molded it the bottom. If the stein has some enameled or molded decoration to the body, I believe there is generally an increase in value. The quality of the lid is also a factor.
