At the Mini Convention we were told that hydrogen peroxide at the strength you would use for bleaching hair is the safest for you stein. You can get it from a hair salon, and use gloves when handling. You can also use bleach, but not if there is any gold around the lithophane, and do not get it on your pewter. If you use the bleach use it only on the porcelain.
