Thanks for your input Chris. After looking at the article by David Harr and John McGregor; my stein's handle doesn't match any of the examples but does come real close to one of the JW Remy. I also checked out known examples of Remy's in my collection with no match. By the way, my Remy examples have a higher gloss to the brown glaze at the top and base of the stein. Lyn Ayers provided me with a number of excellent handouts on JW Remy he uses during lectures. The handle doesn't exactly match any of his examples either. The same holds true for known examples of thumblifts.
