Interesting story about this lid- is it true?

In 1998 I purchased a stein LID from a lady in my town. She was elderly and said her husband had brought the entire stein back from one of Hitler's homes during WW2. Their granddaughter knocked it off the mantle in 1998. THEY ONLY KEPT THE LID! The Lady's husband passed away and she didn't want it anymore. I paid $4.00 for it. She had no reason to lie to me. A stein collector here in my town said "it for sure is real", The inscription reads "Reichsfurer SS Heinrich Himmler". Supposedly this was owned by him, Heinrich Himmler, but I'm looking for more info. I've called a few people, but only recently had the ability to send pictures. I have more details if needed.
