I don't want to sell it. Of course I've wondered what it's worth, but I don't have selling it on my mind. I've owned this for 13+ years and have a number of questions. There is a mark on the lid that looks like a stein in a bridge over water with either trees or buildings behind it. There was no other info from the woman and I didn't prod her for more (Obviously I should have). She just told me that her husband pulled it out of the destroyed home/bunker (I don't recall what word she used)of Himmler. I've thought about trying to track her down again in my hometown of Janesville, Wisconsin. I'm pretty sure it would be a lot of work with little gain. If the lady was lying, it was pretty pointless for $4.00. I own my own automotive appraisal company now and I know how 50 year old stories can expand and change. I have no expectations for it. I've called a few people, but they seam like I'm bothering them with my questions. I started asking around the town where I live now and found the owner of the aluminum foundry in town collects Nazi items and steins. When he saw the lid he smiled and said "Yes, it's definitely real. Is it for sale?" When I told him "no" he told me to "call him first when I decide to sell it." My interest rekindled a few weeks ago and I thought I could call that man and ask him some more questions. He asked me right away if I was ready to sell it. When I told him "no, I'm looking for more info on it", he didn't want to talk anymore. I don't want to have to drive across country to find the answers I'm looking for. I'm hoping someone here can help.
