Craig, I think Chris only said he was uncomfortable with it, although I think he made a wrong assumption in thinking the SS was for his rank rather than the organization. While all the symbols may have been used by Himmler, that by itself doesn't prove anything either. You found that information and so could someone else if they wanted to fake an inscription. Short of finding a photo of Himmler holding a stein with that lid and inscription, I don't know how you are going to satisfy yourself or prove to others that it is a legitimate Himmler item. If you are not interested in establishing its value, are you trying to establish that you have a legitimate Nazi era collectible or just trying to satisfy your curiosity? Ron
