I've been reading some of the postings and must admit I'm more than a little intimidated. However, my attempts to gain knowledge of my particular stein have failed miserably and I'm left with no choice but to forge ahead into your forum. Please forgive my novice vocabulary. With that said.... My mother-in-law and her family are from Bahn, Germany. She gave us a beautiful stein that she called the Old Maid of Munich that had been in her family since she was a child. It depicts an old woman wearing a black hooded cape that drapes down the body of the stein (stine). The colors of her face are softly muted and she is made of porcelain, I believe. I've learned this is a "character" stein so MAY be identifiable without a picture. She is safely packed away from little hands - but if a picture or more information, such as markings or numbers, is required for an ID, I will of course bring her into the light again. I appreciate very much your kind attention to this matter - a matter only of great curiosity as we would never part with her - we only wish to know what more we can about her. Please accept our gratitude for your patience and kind consideration to this lovely old maid. (and me)
