As a stein collector, and Third Reich collector I will tell you that the SS symbols are correct, but I think if HH had a stein it would have been an elaborate one. The insert is too crude, and if you look close the engraving still shines, and I would think it would have turned to the same patina as the rest of the lid. I think it is post war.
