Steve B., I've just finished reading "Collecting Antique Beer Steins" by James R. Stevenson and "The Practical Side of Stein Collecting" by Gary Kirsner. I realize now how impulsive I was to make these two purchases, however, you're right, we must ultimately go with what we like, which I did. Personally, I most admire the paste on paste techniques, but they are just too far out of my price range. As it turns out though, according to Ron, my Lindinwirth stein is most likely a Albert Jacob Thewalt. Until I see the mark, I won't be able to determine if its the old man, his son or his grandson, a difference that would be HUGE. So, I'm excited to see just what I do have with that one. At any rate, I must admit this is a hobby I could get used to. And you're right, a trip to the book store, even w/everything available on-line, is definitely a must if I'm to get really serious about collecting. cft
