Cindy, Sorry to confuse you with so many posts, but I try to post them close to the questions. A second look at your Munich Child and comparing it to Merkelbach & Wick convinced me they were most likely the maker. Therefore I posted an update for you. As to the Lindenwirtin stein, I think we discussed this previously, but it may have been a post from the seller rather than you as the buyer. The people are German, not French. Here is what The Beer Stein Library has to say: “Keinen Tropfen im Becher mehr und der Beutel schlaff u. leer.” (No more drops in the beaker and the purse is slack and empty.) Text is from the poem “Die Lindenwirtin”, written by Rudolph Baumbach in 1876 and set to music in 1878 by Franz Wilhelm Abt. The poem honors Ännchen Schumacher (1860-1935), perhaps the most famous landlady/tavern keeper in German history and a popular figure with German students. This is why I say The Beer Stein Library is a valuable resource, particularly for a beginner. Ron
