Jerry in North Carolina - Hi. I was hoping it was older than that. From what I've learned, the factory has remained in the same location from the beginning when the old man started it. His mark, w/o the vertical line or the T in the triangle, would date it to between 1893 to 1900. The unification took place in 1989 with the tearing down of the wall, right? I think I remember reading that the factory closed down in 1999, only 10 years later. During the time of the grandson's ownership, (1930-closing)he apparently brought back many of his Grandfather's designs, but always marked them w/the T inside the triangle while claiming the piece was an "Original Thewalt". So, you can understand why I was hoping for the old man's markings. I couldn't determine from the pictures whether that was the case or not. Either my eyes are bad or the picture isn't clear enough for me. I think I'll take a chance on it anyway. Would you or any veteran collector have interest in such a piece or is it just me? I seem to be drawn to this style. (hope I got my facts right) Cindy
