I think you have gone one step too far in your analysis of this stein. Yes, the capacity mark appears to be from S.P. Gerz. However, while it is true that Hauber & Reuther (HR) decorated steins from that firm in 1886, there is nothing that I see to indicate that this stein was decorated by HR. The simple answer is that the stein was produced and sold by Gerz, and since Gerz used this capacity mark for a number of years, it cannot be dated by that mark alone.
