Woodjungle!, I got to this thread after the deletion, but I only see one stein under your name listed on eBay. A person named Keith, I assume that is you Woodjungle!, asked the maker of a listing on eBay on 01/23/12. Walt definitely said it wasn't by Riemerschmid as stated in the listing. He should know because of his extensive research on jugendstil steins. He also stated that the "M" was not a maker's mark. The listing then was changed to state it wasn't that artist without giving credit to the source. I added that I thought it looked like a Duemler & Breiden art deco stein, although I could not find it in any of the D&B catalogs. Woodjungle! then made another post, apparently about the same stein, on 01/23/12 that was deleted by the WebMaster due to the reference to the eBay listing. Now you come back on 01/26/12 asking the same question with the eBay reference to your listing. Walt may have been a little blunt in trying to tell you the listing was too high, but the fact is that the D&B art deco steins are post WWII and do not command a high value among stein collectors that know their history. You may well get that price, but probably not from a stein collector. It will have to be someone that either values it higher as art deco or thinks it is older than it is. We are not doing this service to assist sellers, but rather because of our love of our hobby in the hopes of getting good information available to the public to attract new collectors. I personally think our rule is a litlle silly because it is so easy to get around. Keith(Woodjungle!?) can cite the eBay listing because we don't know it is his listing, but Woodjungle! exposed himself by revealing his identity. A better way to control abuse would be to require registration to post a thread and requiring posters to agree to the rules, including respecting others. Abusers can then be removed from future posts. It would also be helpful to categorize the posters (collector, novice, seller, family heirloom, etc.). I have no qualms about providing information to sellers as long as the SCI web site gets credit. After all we are trying to attract new members. I first heard about SCI from an antique dealer. Ron
