Alan, Some glass steins are truly unique and beautiful and can command a high price. The engraving on the pewter would most likely have been added after manufacture and would not be a reliable source for dating it. If it commemorated a certain event or person it might be more desireable, but again it wouldn't necessarily be reliable. I couldn't read the engraving. Ron
