Chris, I really know very little about Steinzeugwerke, but after looking at the Gerz & Merkelbach era Steinzeugwerke invoice header with their respective marks which you have posted on your site, one sees that if these marks were combined, they would look something like the one in question. Your possible theory seems like it might be on the right track. The question I have arises from the article by Walt V., Prosit,Dec 2003, pgs 1526 - 1527, which says "...there is no trademark for Steinzeugwerke, as it had no production facilities..." If that is correct, then how could this be a Steinzeugwerke mark? It seems like each time a rock is turned over a new question is found instead of an answer! Perhaps one day someone will figure this one out.
