The inscription transcribes as 'K. Kroncke seinem lieben Leibbruder W. Schwanecke zum freindliche Erinnerung Summer Semester 1910.' 'Seinem Lieben' means 'his dear', 'Leibbruder' means 'fraternal brother for life', 'zum freundlich Erinnerung' manes 'in friendly memory'. The Zirkels are a cypher which is unique to their fraternities.
