Janet, I had to modify your link to view it. You have a mystery stein here. The mark is an early mark of Albert Jacob Thewalt that was used from 1893-1900. However, that firm didn't get into steins until they hired Wilhelm Kamp in 1897. He designed numbers 1 to 816 from 1897 to 1914. The mold number appears to be too high to have been designed before 1901! The scene does have a "K" in the lower right which may be for Kamp. The Thewalt catalog on The Beer Stein Library shows a completely different stein for mold 173, a 1,5 L zither player and women . I did find the scene on your stein on Thewalt 373, so the stein did come from that factory. I may refer to stein to Herr Thewalt to get an explanation for the mark. The lid on your stein is not the typical lid for a Thewalt and so it may be a replacement. Ron
