It occurred to me that the Wekara steins I have bear no mark as to origin. I thought it became law in the late 1800s that anything made in Germany had to be marked as such. Also, I just read a 1999 article by Frank Loevi, outlining the horrible practice of steins being mfg. in China and then sent to Germany for final marking - passing them off as "Made in..." Sadly, this has become common practice with many highly collectible items - such as Murano art glass from the island of Murano, Italy. The masters glass blowers/artists there are still fighting to have the laws changed, as Germany has already done, to protect their craftsmen and subsequent livelihood. So again I ask; why would my stein bear no "made in..." mark? Thanks! cft
