What you call "lumpy" is known as "relief." All the new ones you've shown were made in Japan, maybe in the 1960's or later. Look inside of them and you'll still see the relief inside. Now look inside the very first you showed and I'll bet it's smooth inside that one. That and the quality of the painting can often tell you where it was made. If there's an indication that there mighht have been a lid you would call that a "lidless stein." If there was no plan for a lid it's called a "mug." Enjoy your collection.
