I just found a German military stein that belonged to my grandparents. It is for a reservist named Enhuber. It does not bear the "Made in Germany" or "Germany" marking anywhere. It seems to be a typical miltary stein with 3 scenes depicted. The buttons on the mens uniforms are raised above the other paint. However, I found two unsual things about this stein. Firstly the lithograph at the bottom is more detailed than I have seen on other steins. It resembles a photograph more than a painting. It is of a man in unifrom. Secondly, atop the metal lid, there is second scene encased in diamond shaped glass. It depicts military men drinking with a woman and the word Reserve, but no name. In my limited time researching steins I havent seen another painted scene atop the lid enclosed in glass. Is this common? Is it the sign of fake? If authentic, would this add to or decrease the value of the stein?
