Reposting a question about a brewery stein I recently acquired! Here it is: https://picasaweb.google.com/timbercoffee/BloggerPictures?authkey=Gv1sRgCNKAtffnqImuUQ# I wonder if anyone can tell me if this is a common one, or any other information than I have below? The mark on the bottom is from Merkelbach & Wick. I do collect steins, but I don't know anything about brewery steins. I found a little information online and got my mother to translate from the German: "In 1890 the brewery was renamed "Brauereigesellschaft Georg Neff, formerly Aktien-Brauerei. Annual sales 900,000 liter. The business grew so rapidly that the plant had to be expanded in 1896. In 1962 it operated under the management of Georg Neff Jr. and Heiner Neff, the third and lst generation of the brewery's owners. It retained its high technical standards through constant investments but finally ceased production in 1983. In 1990 a plan was submitted to incorporate the historically important parts of the old brewery in a new cultural center. But regretfully as happens so often, it fell victim to the wrecking ball."
