I don't collect brewery steins, either, but I have seen many, both on eBay and in auction catalogs. I don't recall ever seeing this one previously, and I think it is a desirable one. In addition to condition, the attractiveness of the decoration and a lid which matches the body are important elements. I like the straightforward decoration of your stein, and think that its repetition in relief on the pewter lid is especially fine. The rarity will mean relatively little to most American stein collectors, but will drive up the value quite quickly in Germany.
