Walt, thanks for clarifying that. I checked out the links for the auctioneers and the one in Illinois had a very reasonable percentage. Even though I've shipped glass items for more than 15 years, I still cringe at the thought of shipping the stein, it weighs a ton. I know I pack so the item will survive an earthquake and it would be nice if it was going straight to it's new home when it leaves here. So I'll see. I'm sure the auction houses are professionals and would take care of it. I should call the one in Illinois at least and see if they are making any pick ups in my area and could swing by here. I have a lot of respect for "old" things. It has survived this long and I need to make sure it stays in one piece : ) Thanks again for all your help! Susan
