Ronda, the word on this stein serving as a title is actually "Jägersabschied" which means "Hunter's farewell" (as he departs on a hunting trip). If you Google "Jaegers Abschied" and then search for images you will find many examples of this scene as well as references to literature and song. The stein is a saltglazed body which has then been decorated with a transfer (think of a decal). The shape and simplicity of the lid are definitely post-1900, and this style was certainly being produced during the first quarter of the 20th century. From a collecting or value viewpoint, a more specific date is not of particular significance. In perfect condition with no damage, repairs or defects, the stein value is probably in the $75-100 range.
