Dear Friends, I acquired a gorgeous German beer stein, recently. I bought it from a respectable lady, truly interested in collectibles. The story says that the stein has been a German family relic for several generations. I live in Eastern Europe, near by the sea. Many peoples have passed through my country to trade with the Ottoman Empire. Many valuables have been carried back and forth, so I have a reason to believe in the authenticity of some of the collectibles that could be found here. The stein itself: The stein is handmade, neo baroque pottery, probably dating from 1840. It has an ornamented pewter lid with a closed hinge, typical for the period. There are no visible marks that the stein might have been commercially manufactured. I have posted a link to pictures, for those interested. https://www.dropbox.com/home/Public/1840%20German%20stein?d=1 I am really interested in finding out more about the stamp on the bottom of the stein. I think it might help me out in verifying the origin and the year the stein was made. The stamp says 24 EE. There is a very pale (9) below the 24. Could you please guide me on how to gain more knowledge on the stamp on the bottom of my gorgeous stein? Thank you in advance! Kind Regards, Georgi
