J Shoemaker, Unfortunately your stein is not listed in the Girmscheid catalog on The Beer Stein Library. If you go to the Reading Room section of this site you might find a translation for the German phrase on your steins. Is there a form number listed on the body of the stein near the handle? Are there any initials on the body of the stein (KB or GK)? These two artist's initials can be found on many Girmscheid steins. Since cobalt blue was used on your stein, there is probably a pretty good chance it was made prior to WWI. Cobalt blue was diverted to the war effort and stein manufacturers were forced to use other colors to seal the pottery, typically green or brown were the alternate colors favored. Ron
